Carl Tatum - Chief - Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum Chief Carl Tatum, Chair - El Paso County Fire District Representative

Appointed April 2014 - Chief Carl Tatum represents the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum (a southern El Paso County Fire District), and is currently Chief for the Hanover Fire Protection District where he has served for over five years. Chief Tatum, who hails from Waverly, Iowa, joined the Kansas National Guard in 1990 and a year later enlisted into the U.S. Army. He has enjoyed assignments in Germany; Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; and Korea, and his current assignment is Fort Carson, Colorado. Chief Tatum has completed specialized training in military leadership, heavy equipment mechanics, and financial management, and has has attended college at Central Texas College and Pikes Peak Community College.

Chief Steve Murphy - Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum Chief Steve Murphy, Vice-Chair - El Paso County Fire District Representative

Appointed April 2014 - Chief Steve Murphy represents the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum (a western El Paso County Fire District), and is currently Chief of the Green Mountain Falls/Chipita Park Volunteer Fire Department. Chief Murphy joined the fire service in 1997 as a volunteer with Green Mountain Falls/Chipita Park VFD, and has been Chief to the department since 2006. In addition, Chief Murphy currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum. He's a native of the Manitou Springs/Ute Pass area, and is married with one son. He's also served as a Scout leader in the past with Pikes Peak Council BSA.

Jeff Force Jeff Force, Secretary - El Paso County Resident/Current or Previous EMT or Paramedic Representative

Appointed April 2014 - Jeff has been active in EMS since 1985 as an EMT, paramedic, and educator. He holds a BA from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Public Safety Leadership from Capella University. Since May 2004, he has served as Program Director for the EMS Program at Pikes Peak Community College, working directly with most of the EMS and fire agencies in El Paso County. He serves on the ESA's Medical Control Committee, and contributes to a number of boards and committees relating to public safety and EMS at the local, state and national levels.

T. Wyne Florek - Senior Citizen Representative T. Wayne Florek, Treasurer - Senior Citizen Representative

Appointed April 2014 - Mr. Florek represents the interests of senior citizens in El Paso County. He has over 25 years of experience in the computer software industry, and holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from Cornell University and a Masters of Business Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He has resided in Colorado since 1986 and has called Colorado Springs home since 2002.

SVanderWerf EPC County Commissioner Stan VanderWerf - El Paso County Commissioner

Appointed January 2017 - Stan VanderWerf serves District 3 on the Board of County Commissioners. His district encompasses central and western El Paso County, including the Town of Green Mountain Falls, the City of Manitou Springs, the Town of Palmer Lake, the Westside and downtown areas of Colorado Springs, and unincorporated areas within District 3 including Ute Pass and areas south of Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

Appointed May 2016 - Chief Bryan Jack represents the Pikes Peak Fire Chiefs' Forum (an northern El Paso County Fire District), and is currently Fire Chief of the Black Forest Fire/Rescue Protection Districtt.

Sam Gieck - Councilmember, City of Fountain Sam Gieck - Fountain City Councilmember

Appointed April 2014 - Mr. Sam Gieck represents the Fountain City Council, Ward 3. He was elected to a four year term in November 2013. He has 26 years of experience with the City of Colorado Springs Fire Department. He was the first president of and is currently a member of ARFF (Assoc. or Retired Fire Fighters). He is a Colorado Springs native; he attended college at Mesa Jr. College and Southern Colorado State College. Sam has been active in his community as a basketball, football, baseball and softball coach. He enjoys biking, riding his Harley, and participating in the many activities of his grandchildren.

Bill Normile Bill Normile - Neighborhood Citizen Representative

Appointed April 2014 - Mr. Normile and his family moved to El Paso County in 1982. For over 25 years, he's been involved in marketing and sales of cancer treatments that have altered the course of cancer survivability in many of the most common cancers with some of the top pharmaceutical companies in the country. He has a Bachelors degree from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri and an MBA with an emphasis in International Business from Regis University. Bill has been active in his community as a scout master, baseball coach, and soccer coach, and he enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing and skiing.

Julie Kiley, M.D. Julie Kiley, M.D. - Memorial Hospital/University of Colorado Health

Appointed April 2014 - Dr. Kiley is the emergency department representative to the ESA for Memorial Hospital/University of Colorado Health and currently serves as physician advisor. Dr. Kiley graduated from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver in 1987 has been an emergency medicine physician at Memorial Hospital since 1991. She has been board certified in emergency medicine since 1992. Prior to receiving her M.D., Dr. Kiley worked for two years as an EMT for ambulance services in Colorado Springs.

Timothy Hurtado, D.O. Timothy Hurtado, D.O. - Penrose-St. Francis Hospitals

Appointed April 2014 - Dr. Hurtado is the emergency department representative to the ESA for Penrose-St. Francis Hospitals, and currently serves as a physician advisor. Dr. Hurtado gradutated from Midwestern University in Chicago in 1999, and has been an emergency medicine physician at Penrose-St. Francis Hospitals since 2010. He has been board certified in emergency medicine since 2003. Prior to receiving his D.O., Dr. Hurtado worked for nine years as a wildland firefighter/EMT for various agencies, and has been active in search and rescue for many years.

Jim Reid - El Paso County Publice Services Executive Director Jim Reid - El Paso County

Jim has 30 years of experience in emergency service from maintaining fire safe facilities to emergency response. As the Director of the Office of Emergency Management for El Paso County, Jim oversaw the El Paso County Hazardous Material Team, supervised 5 full time employees and approximately 200 volunteers for Emergency Response, and trained County Personnel in the Incident Command System/Emergency Management. Jim is a retired First Sergeant after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Jim has served on the board of directors for the ESA since August 2006 and held the position of Chair from January of 2008 through March of 2014.
